Application
Carbocer
CARBOCER processes create black coatings of diamond-like carbon (DLC). DLC is very hard and shows low friction.
Typical applications are:
- Plain bearings, cylinder liners
- Forming tools
- Surgical Instruments, implants
CARBOCER
CARBOCER coatings have a special intermediate layer providing a good adhesion of the DLC on surfaces that can form bonds with carbon. This is the case for most metal alloys and ceramics.
One advantage of DLC compared to other hard coatings is that the low friction is stable also after long usage.
The possible friction coefficient depends on the friction partner and the environmental properties.
The CARBOCER coatings can resist temperatures up to 350 °C and they are chemically almost inert.
